The Support Network (TSN), a 501(c)(3) non-profit advancing student mental health, is thrilled to announce the appointment of Justin St. Charles to the Board of Directors. As a Board Member, Justin will draw from his background in clinical social work and higher education administration to support student success and mental health advocacy. He brings a belonging-, mattering-, and collective well-being–centered approach as TSN strives to expand peer support to more students across the country.

Justin is a Strategic Retention Manager in the Office of the Provost - Undergraduate Education at Michigan State University and is responsible for supporting institution-wide student retention and persistence efforts grounded in equity, care, and student voice. He is also a field instructor and field liaison for MSU’s School of Social Work and has previously served as a field instructor at the University of Michigan.

Central to Justin’s work is his collectivist approaches to campus health and well-being, advocating for models of care that move beyond traditional clinical settings and empower communities to support one another. This perspective directly aligns with the mission of The Support Network, reinforcing the importance of shared responsibility, mutual care, and accessible support networks. Justin has presented on these principles at national conferences including NASPA, AERA, the American College Counseling Association, the University Innovation Alliance (UIA) National Summit on Student Success Innovation, and the Big Ten Counseling Centers Conference.

He is also a doctoral candidate in MSU’s Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education program, where his research explores how institutions communicate about grief and care through institutional messaging.

“We are thrilled to be adding Justin’s expertise and perspective to The Support Network. His extensive experience and commitment to student success make him a natural fit for the Board, and we look forward to working with him.” -  The Support Network Board of Directors
